Practicum Log #24: Escape Game Updates
This is the view from the walk I make to the library every day. I love the old trees on the Southwestern Campus!

Emily was back at the library today, and so we were able to go through the rest of the to-do list for the Information Literacy Escape Game. I also went through and added elements to LibGuides that needed updating. And then after we finished those final touches, I started to work on finding books in the collection catalog that the librarians could use for book display ideas. One of the book displays will also feature the Writing Lab, and so Emily and I came up with fun plays on Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets Department. The display will say something like, “No Need to be a Tortured Poet. You’re Not Dylan Thomas, I’m Not Patty Smith, but we can help you write your paper.” And then the books will all be a mixture of poetry collections, memoirs, and books on writing. Each book can have a corresponding Taylor Swift lyric that alludes to that book. For instance, Patti Smith’s memoir Just Kids with the corresponding lyric: “You’re not Dylan Thomas. I’m not Patti Smith. This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel. We’re modern idiots.”
I found about 15-20 books for the Taylor Swift Display and 15 or so books for a crime scene book display to use during October. The book display can have caution tape and chalk outlines with murder mysteries, true crime novels, and non-fiction books as well. I found other books for a Page to Screen display that feature books that have been adapted to movies in the past year or so.
Full Schedule: l will be working 10:00-2:00 from May 28th to June 7th, M-F online. (The campus is undergoing some construction and all of the librarians are working from home.)
Then, from June 10 - July 19th, I will be working 1:00-5:00 on campus at Southwestern University. I will more than likely finish by July 12th, but I'm adding a week for wiggle room. This should lead to 128 hours.
